Renowned as the greatest trickster in the realm, the actor Aneshu travels to the distant desert outpost of Malassar to spy upon an unscrupulous vizier who has eliminated every previous spy planted in his household. No one said espionage was easy, but then, no one warned Aneshu that Amiru ked Shaskan was young, devastatingly handsome, and as dangerous as a cobra. To survive, the actor must turn to his most famous role, and perhaps do the unthinkable.

Featured Title

In exotic Tajhaan, twenty-year old Aneshu is an actor renowned as much for his cynicism as for his roles as gods, women, and tricksters. But one night, when his performance strikes a chord with an idealistic young nobleman, he has no idea their brief meeting will change his life when civil war and unrest come to Tajhaan.

This first book of the Aneshu trilogy establishes the acting world of Tajhaan, where plays are limited to three actors wearing masks. Aneshu, a second actor, has the most exciting repertoire of all, including the capricious, powerful Gaval the trickster, who as Aneshu's alter ego will play a pivotal role throughout the trilogy.

For those expecting a straight-up romance between an actor and a prince, think again. This is a complex world of political intrigue and dynastic conflict: the perfect place for a gifted actor to get caught in the middle. Aneshu's relationship with fellow actor Elami begins in this book, but plays out through the trilogy.

Work in Progress

It just so happens that Aneshu's Inheritance, the third and final book in the Aneshu trilogy, is on my desk at this moment. While the first book centers on a dynastic conflict and civil war, and the second book takes Aneshu away from his troupe, the third takes the troupe of Tahrun ked Nessi on tour to four cities, two of which hold bitter childhood memories for Aneshu and his lover Elami.

Aneshu's Inheritance focuses on the troupe as a family. Aneshu and Elami's relationship lies at the heart of the book, as each man deals with past hurts and ghosts from a time before he joined the troupe. For each man remembers the family he once had, from Elami's prostitute-mother to the parents who sold Aneshu into slavery during a devastating famine. When the time comes, what role will Gaval the trickster, Aneshu's unpredictable god alter ego, play?

Molly's Last Word

Oh, hai there! You wuz wanting to sitz heer? Sry, try agin later.

Cute she may be, but Molly is not a touchy-feelie lap kitty. She will put up with ten seconds of scritches before emitting a little meow and moving off. The only exception to this rule is belly scritches--Molly loves having her belly rubbed.

So in the absence of proper scritches, how does the Blue House muse receive affection? Easy. She loves to be talked to and serenaded. This derives in large part from Molly's early days with us; the little scatterbrain spent them hiding behind and under furniture, so petting was out. We gained her confidence and affection by talking to her and occasionally singing, making up ridiculous lyrics she knew were just for her.

No, I do not take requests.
